“Am I Your Son” is a compelling novel about the life of
Jesus Christ. He is portrayed as a
creative, charismatic, compassionate, intelligent and interesting persona. Details of his conception and birth have been
updated based on actual historical incidents and 21st century
medical knowledge. A talented carpenter
and stone mason, Jesus finds work in nearby Sepphoris and later in Capernaum on
the Sea of Galilee. His theology and
ministry are influenced by his relationship with John the Baptist. As expected
by the culture within which he lives, he falls in love.
We get to know all of the main characters, including his
parents, John, and the future Apostles as tangible personalities. They have a
perfectly natural relationship with Jesus. The narrative is both credible and
logical. Descriptions of geography, buildings, and villages, along with a
discussion of first century medicine, cultural influences and historic events
lend context to the story. His incredible passion and the events of his
crucifixion are carefully detailed.
Throughout his life, God is always at his side, helping
him in his ministry and in the end… proves the truth of his message by raising
Jesus from the dead. To his peers, Jesus was often considered to be a heretic.
But with God’s help he launched a theology and philosophy that influenced the
progress of western civilization for centuries. Those of us who believe in the
moral power of Christian Theology know the message of Jesus Christ is just as
relevant today as when God gave it to him.

Author’s Notes
About John the Baptist:
I have always wondered why there so much fuss about John’s birth. What
is the point if there was no close relationship between Jesus and John in later
life? The answer is a natural part of
the story in “Am I You Son”. Under God’s
direction, John helped Jesus to develop the message of his ministry and the
success of his healing.
About the birth Of Jesus Christ: For several reasons, the wonderfully inspiring
story in Matthew and Luke lacks historical and medical credibility. However we can develop a perfectly plausible
story based on actual 1st century history and culture, updated with
21st century medical knowledge. Jesus is the son of God ... by a very natural process.
About His crucifixion: “Am I Your Son” presents a very detailed
account of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is obvious
Jesus fully expected to die in Jerusalem after Passover, either by beheading
(like John the Baptist) or crucifixion. Why did he deliberately allow himself
to be captured? Because Jesus had an
incredible desire to prove the truth of his ministry.
About Judas Iscariot: The Gospels tell us Judas betrayed
Jesus to the Sanhedrin in the Garden of Gethsemane in exchange for thirty
pieces of silver, by kissing him on the cheek and addressing him as
"master" to reveal his identity. But for several reasons the betrayal
does not make any sense... unless ... it
had been planned by Jesus to guarantee the logistics of his capture would
happen exactly when and where it did.
About the Book of Luke: In many ways we can think of “Am
I Your Son” as an update to the Gospel of Luke. While Luke’s effort tells us a
lot about the ministry of Jesus Christ, it does not – like the other two
synoptic gospels – tell us about the 30 year period between the birth of Jesus
Christ and the start of his ministry. Luke’s description of the conception and
birth of Christ also follows Matthew’s beautiful story, which is –
unfortunately – based on obsolete 1st century medical knowledge and
cultural beliefs.
“Am I Your Son” resolves
both these problems by giving us a story based a review of 1st
century history, culture and political events and a different narrative about
the birth and conception of Christ based on 21st century medical
knowledge.
